The first poem that I have chosen for the context is The Unknown Citizen by W. H Auden. I have chosen this poem because this poem starts with an ironic epigraph – “To JS/07 M 378 This Marble Monument Is Erected by the State”. Another reason to select the poem is because the tone of the poem is both disturbing as well as satirical.
